FYI, the 7th season of Stargate: SG1 starts tonight. They're showing a 1-hour retrospective/season-7-teaser special, followed by 2 new episodes. Meant to post this earlier today, for the benefit of those of you without TiVo. Sorry, east-coasters.
Stargate: SG1 is the most entertaining SF show on television today. If you like that kind of thing, start watching.
Posted by Peter at June 13, 2003 5:26 PMWithout Farscape, and with the advent of such nonsense as "Beyond Belief" and "Scare Tactics", the SciFi Network is becoming a waste of spectrum. Their target demographic seems to have become "the lowest common denominator", and they seem to be interpreting that all the way down to 1.
Posted by: Har on June 14, 2003 5:42 AMThis has nothing to do with the post, sorry. Wednesday on Millionaire there was a man from Norman, OK, named Dick Thurston who used to substitute teach for me in band and some other classes in high school. He got the 64,000 question right on Wed. and the show ended. I slept through it on Thursday and didn't get to see it. Does anyone know how he did, or how I can find out how he did? Thanks.
Posted by: James on June 14, 2003 3:32 PMHar - I certainly agree, they seem to be going down hill. I really wish somebody had made them keep Farscape. Epsecially considering how what was NOT supposed to be the last season ended in such a nasty cliffhanger.
I'm hoping the upcoming Battlestar Galactica will be good, but that's not until December. Other than Stargate I don't think they have anything else worth watching until then.
Anybody have another show to suggest? I may have missed something... I hope I have...
Posted by: Larry on June 14, 2003 9:41 PMI don't know why, but SciFi seems bound and determined to retire shows after 3-5 seasons, no matter how popular they are. Once a show makes it to the Friday Prime slot, (the most heavily advertised slot, and supposedly containing the best shows), it's like the kiss of death for the series. (Anyone remember The Invisible Man? It got the highest ratings of any show on the channel the season it was cancelled!) I'm surprised Farscape lasted this long, despite it's uber-goodness. Stargate only has one season left before it kicks the bucket. (sob!) Then we'll have to hope that the spin-off (Stargate: Atlantis, possibly starring Michael Shanks) is as good as the original.
